Writing is like working out. Sometimes, it flows and I can write a couple of thousand words. Other days, I struggle to squeeze in a few hundred. My first drafts of chapters are always crap, but I’ve learned to regard them as the bare bones of what the chapter will ultimately be. My first draft of my WIP is almost done. I hope to finish it by the end of next week, then start revisions.
And speaking of exercise: with all this sitting I’ve been doing lately, I seem to have a permanently numb butt. I don’t remember this happening when I was a student. Perhaps it’s a sign of old age. Or maybe I just need a better chair.
While my progress for the Book in 3 Months Challenge is going pretty well, I’m finding it difficult to keep up with everything else. As per usual, something’s got to give, and this time it appears to be blogging. I’m five books behind in my reviews.
I think it’s time for another mini review post. I’m hoping I’ll have the opportunity to catch up over the weekend.
In addition to writing, I’m also doing two online writing workshops this month. In short, I might have overextended myself. Thankfully, my mother is arriving next week, and I’m hoping she’ll take pity on me and give me some extra writing time during the day.
With all this time spent writing, I’ve barely looked at blogs or news on upcoming books. Have I missed anything interesting? Are there any new books out which you’d recommend?

Writing is like working out.
YES! Except for me, since I just started regular gym in September, working out is like writing.
Oh I hope you get caught up soon. It’s amazing how easy it is to become buried.
What Alice Knew comes out in September. It was really good (which reminds me I need to write a review of it).
@Victoria Janssen: LOL! Working out – the real kind – is one of the many things I’ve let slip recently. I need to get back into a fitness routine.
@Fiction Vixen: I’m slowly but surely getting caught up. My mother is visiting at the moment and this gives me a chance to tackle some of the tasks I’ve been putting off.
@heidenkind: I’m looking forward to reading that review. The book intrigues me.
