Sarah’s New Year’s Resolutions for 2010

by Sarah on January 1, 2010 · 11 comments

Happy New Year to all of you!

Every year, I say I won’t make New Year’s resolutions, and every year I do. Here are a few for 2010:

  • Write an average of 4 blog posts per week.
  • Finish revising current WIP and start a new project.
  • Read a book from a new-to-me genre or author every two months or so.
  • Read The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
  • Don’t stress as much as I usually do about silly things.
  • Reorganize home office.
  • Update my computer skills.

Have you made any resolutions for the New Year? Do you ever stick to them if you do? Since I started to make smaller, more realistic ones, I tend to follow through on more of them.

In a break from previous years, I refuse to get my hopes up or make resolutions for 2010. I figure this will avoid disappointment.

But your resolutions are worthy :) (Maybe ‘try m/m’ should be on th list!) Hope you and your family have a great 2010

I’ve done New Year’s resolutions for a few years now, and I like it. I don’t always get them done (some are more ongoing than discrete) but I like having the place holder to go back to. This year, I may divide them into types: Things I really must do, Things I really should do, and Things it would be nice if I did but let’s not kid ourselves.

@Ann Somerville: Yes! Trying an m/m should definitely be on my list. I read my first m/f/m recently and really enjoyed it.

Happy New Year!

@Magdalen: I considered putting: “Eat less chocolate!” on my list but that would be an unrealistic goal.

Though I do want to get a bit more reading done this year than I managed in 09.

Many on your list are on mine too… another I will be adding is be more organised: I hope I can achieve this one in 2010. I used to be so organised but the older I get the harder it becomes lol. Thanks for sharing your resolutions. Happy New Year, Sarah :)

I don’t make these any longer cuz I never fulfill them! Okay perhaps this is not totally true but I try to have them in my mind only and don’t share them! I hate to have the pressure when you tell everyone your goals. This way I keep them in mind but I can adjust them to the changes in my life along the way. Does that make sense? Or perhaps it’s just cuz I hate to disappoint people.
Hope you can reach your goals!

All except the last one are on my list. I use them as goals, not resolutions. Symantics :)

I’m doing #3 as part of the 1010 Reading Challenge modified to my specifications (10 categories I normally don’t read from through to the end of the year 2010 and any number of books in those categories). Thanks to author Anne Gracie, I found this marvelous site http://6changes.com that I’m going to use for habit forming/changing.

I’m definitely making a conscious effort to read some new-to-me authors/genres/category lines. I think first up for me will either be trying out the Harlequin Blaze line or reading some Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Hope you enjoy The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, and happy 2010 to you!

Great list of resolutions! Good luck, and hope 2010 turns out to be a great year for you!

I’ve actually never done New Year’s resolutions. I’m not that into the new year, to be honest–it’s just another day to me. I would like to read more in 2010.
