As is the case every year, there are several 2009 books on my shelves which I haven’t yet read. Out of the 56 books I’ve read so far which were published this year, here are my ten favourites.
- Fade to Black by Leslie Parrish – Romantic Suspense
- Never Love a Lawman by Jo Goodman – Western Historical Romance
- A Duke of Her Own by Eloisa James – Historical Romance
- Too Good to Be True by Kristan Higgans – Contemporary Romance
- The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley – Historical Romance
- Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James – Contemporary Romance
- Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning – Urban Fantasy
- Skin Game by Ava Gray – Paranormal Romance
- Start Me Up by Victoria Dahl – Contemporary Romance
- Laid Bare by Lauren Dane – Contemporary Erotic Romance
I’ll be doing a more detailed post on my reading year 2009 next week.
What were your favourite 2009 releases?

I look forward to your extensive post Sarah. You’ve got quite the diverse list going on
I’m still on the swing regarding Julie James and Victoria Dahl but you know how I heart Karen Moning, Lauren Dane and I loved Lord Ian MacKenzie too. Have a fabulous New Years eve and may 2010 bring all you dream of.
Great list hon! Have some of them on mine too.
Guten Rutsch und Frohes Neues!
As Leontine said, that IS a diverse list. I’m still trying to decide my favorites for AAR poll in a little bit, but I did read several 2009 books that I loved:
The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie – J. Ashley
The Forgotten Garden – K. Morton
Watch Over Me – C. Parrish
Freudian Slip – E. Orloff
What Happens in London – J. Quinn
Bound to Shadows – K. Arthur
The Gladiator – C. Capshaw
Invitation to the Boss’s Ball – F. Harper
A Scotsman in Love – K. Ranney
The Conqueror – K. Kennedy
Scandal – C. Jewel
And I still have a few more I want to read very soon – including a couple of your list!
Happy New Year!
I have read 5 of your top ten and agree they were all good books. A few may even make my top 10 list. I am having trouble narrowing it down
Loved PMP to pieces!
Happy New Year, Sarah!
I admire people who are able to write these lists–by the end of any given year, I find I’ve change my mind too often and have too many “best” to fit into any format.
I confess that I haven’t read any of your “best of” books, save for Skin Game, which I adore (and not only because I beta read it
)
I’m reading Practice Makes Perfect right now. I have to say, I am not getting into it. =/
