I’ve read War for the Oaks. It was okay. There weren’t any oaks in it, though, so that was kind of confusing. And I’ve read Christy–I loved the TV series, too, but the book is soooo much better! I think you’ll really like it.

I didn’t get any books for Christmas, believe it or not.

Among the Mad is already out in paperback. At least the US edition is. I’m a huge Maisie Dobbs fan and I’ve been waiting impatiently for this book!

Oh, you got Among the Mad! I’ve been wanting that for ages, am waiting very impatiently for the paperback. I love the way Jacqueline Winspear writes about post-WW1 London.

No books for Christmas but that’s no big deal since I own over 800 books in print and goodness knows how many on my Sony Reader. But yes, I was one who really enjoyed The Sinful Life of Lucy Burns. Can’t wait to see how you like it!

Oh, lucky you! I didn’t get any books for Christmas, but I did get a gift card, so I will be enjoying that later.

I’ll be curious to see what you think of Christy. I last read that book as a teenager, and absolutely loved it. I remember it being somewhat darker than the TV series, but a very good story.

I also rather liked War for the Oaks. I read it last year, and while some parts of it feel very 1980s, it’s still a pretty nifty story.

I clearly *should* have gotten some books on CSS and HTML! LOL

But, unless you count the near-daily stream of used books that I ordered for myself, the only book I received this Christmas is Marian Keyes’ latest “The Brightest Star” from you, dear Monkey Bear! Many thanks again! (And — like I say — a proper thank you note will come soon.)

I used to have a wish list of knitting & quilting books, but not this year.
