I don’t usually read several books simultaneously, but I find myself juggling four at the moment. On my nightstand are:
Beyond Heaving Bosoms: The Smart Bitches Guide to Romance Novels by Sarah Wendell & Candy Tan This is a snarky and irreverent critique of romance novels by the women who write the blog Smart Bitches, Trashy Books. So far, it’s very funny.
Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh This is the first in the Guild Hunters series and features Angels, Vampires and Vampire Hunters. Sounds vaguely Buffy-esque but I thought I’d give it a go.
And Only to Deceive by Tasha Alexander Try as I might, I cannot seem to get into this historical mystery. It’s not badly written but I find my attention drifting while reading it, which is generally not a good sign. Perhaps I’ll put it aside for now and come back to it at a later date.
The Suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale A true crime story set in a Victorian country house. I’ve actually already read it but I’m looking through it again for reviewing purposes.
Enjoy the weekend and happy reading!

My advice: leave deception behind and concentrate on the smart bitches.
